Meet Benny

Benny has been pastor of our church since 1998. His goal since becoming pastor of FBC West Yellowstone has been to lead the church to be a welcoming and safe refuge for everyone who comes seeking our Lord.

Prior to coming to West Yellowstone he served for 20 years as a Chaplain in the Arkansas state correctional system. He has continued his chaplaincy ministry, serving as the Chaplain for the community fire department and emergency services programs.

He has served as Chairman of the Executive Board for Helping Hands, a community based youth drug intervention program. Since 2003 he has coordinated the work of the Youth Justice Council, a restorative justice program for adjudicated youth in the community. He has served on the Social Services Advisory Board and is currently on the Board for Community West Outreach.

He has often been referred to as being the West Yellowstone community Chaplain. In 2002, he was chosen to carry the Olympic torch in West Yellowstone.

Benny is a native Arkansan, a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. An avid outdoor enthusiast he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing and a occasional fly fishing expedition.

He and Juanita have been married for 47 years and have two children, Shawn and Mary. They have been graced with one wonderful granddaughter, Julia age eight years.
